Although Oyster Creek’s operational life is coming to an end, it remains a significant source of electricity for the state until its decommissioning in 2019.

While nuclear power has been a reliable source of electricity for New Jersey, the state has also been working towards diversifying its energy sources. New Jersey has set a goal of obtaining 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2050. This goal includes increasing the use of solar, wind, and other renewable energy technologies.

The transition to renewable energy sources has raised questions about the future of nuclear power in New Jersey. Some advocates argue that nuclear power should continue to play a role in the state’s energy mix due to its low greenhouse gas emissions and stable electricity generation. Others believe that the state should focus on renewable energy to meet its climate goals and reduce its reliance on nuclear power.

In conclusion, there are indeed nuclear power plants in New Jersey, and they have been an essential part of the state’s energy landscape for many years. As New Jersey continues to strive for a more sustainable energy future, the role of nuclear power in the state’s energy mix remains a topic of debate and discussion.
